The Windrush Years Part 13


- 13 children murdered in a fire
- Black people were 3x more unlikely to find themselves unemployed than someone who was white
- If you weren’t white you were a foreigner
- Black people’s new generation created their own club scene using their own churches
- Michael Jackson and other black celebrities shown in the media
- The second generation didn’t want to fit into Britain
- White people believed that Black people would of had a limited education and so were immediately treated that way
- It was becoming accepted that many Black people would fail their education
- Black people felt that they were always held back and they always had to work harder
