The Windrush Years Part 5


- Black people found solitude and comfort in their own clubs with their own music
- Every white man thought that every black man was after the white women, created hostility because they were also taking their women
- It may have been easy to find work but they found it really hard to find somewhere to live
- They were forced into overcrowded houses which white people would refuse
- Treated cruel if they didn’t pay their rent
- White people didn’t understand how black people could buy their own houses
- They believed that West Indians were raising the money from prostitution and racketeering
